Team events in Berlin: six projects, from the mobile wall to the whole bus

  • 6 projects told in full
  • Wellenwerk Lichtenberg
  • up to 1,000+ guests

Berlin is the city where we have so far worked with the largest numbers of guests. At eBay Open more than 1,000 sellers came together, and our crew worked twelve hours straight on four canvases measuring two by two metres. For the Wefox Summer Jam at the Zenner by Treptower Park we instead brought a wall that stayed accessible all evening as an open station, plus a canvas for every single guest.

This page is for you if you are planning a summer party, a company event or a kick-off in Berlin right now and want to know how something like that runs for real. Add to that four projects at the Wellenwerk in Berlin-Lichtenberg: a complete bus for Bring, a live mural for Samsung, the self-designed robot dog of T-Mobile Robotics and the Lingoda summer party with parallel creative stations. We tell six projects in full here. Pick the one that comes closest to your occasion.

Which companies in Berlin have already booked a team event with you?

In Berlin we have worked for eight companies: Wefox, eBay, Lingoda, Bring, Samsung, T-Mobile Robotics, Amazon and SHIFTMOVE. Wefox needed a programme item for the Summer Jam where guests do not just watch. eBay wanted to make the topic of the circular economy visible throughout the day at eBay Open, in front of more than 1,000 guests. At the Wellenwerk in Lichtenberg 25 people painted a whole bus for Bring, for Samsung a large mural took shape at a mini trade fair, T-Mobile Robotics sprayed its own robot dog, and at the Lingoda summer party action paintingand graffiti spaces ran in parallel. For Amazon and SHIFTMOVE creative team formats ran without a written-up case.

Wefox and eBay were party and company event, not workshop: the group is not fixed, it comes in waves. If you are looking for a format in Berlin that copes with an open number of guests, eBay and Wefox are the proof. For smaller, closed groups there are the four Wellenwerk projects. Concept, material, crew, setup and teardown each came from one source, so you book one date and not seven suppliers.

Which format carries an event with more than 1,000 guests?

One that can be multiplied instead of creating a queue. At eBay Open four large canvases therefore ran as continuous live art, and next to them 450 small easels as hands-on stations, for twelve hours and without registration.

The calculation behind it is simple and the same for every event size. A format that keeps twenty people busy at once is clogged all day with a thousand guests. A format whose stations grow with the number of guests stays identical in its running, no matter how many come. At the Wefox Summer Jam it was the same logic on a smaller scale: a wall that stands open, plus one canvas per guest. For graffiti we plan groups from 10 to 1,000 people, and the stations grow with them while the running stays the same.

What do team and guests actually take away at the end?

Something tangible, and in Berlin that is documented twice over. After eBay Open the four canvases were stretched on frames and exhibited at the client's. At the Wefox Summer Jam every person went home with a painted canvas of their own.

For you as the planner that is the line with which you defend the item internally. Catering is used up by the evening, a band is gone after two hours, and a framed piece afterwards hangs in a room where people work and receive visitors. At Wefox it was not a single piece but one per guest, and the wall stayed occupied all evening as a photo motif, including by people who never picked up a can.

“Despite complete lack of talent in the team, we created a result in the end that really everyone is proud of.”
Andreas Scheifele
“[…] 28 colleagues aged between 20 and 60, and all of us completely clueless. […] In the end we were really proud of ourselves. […] As a keepsake, Luca gave us photos taken with the drone.”
Tordis Lehmann
“[…] What surprised me was that you don't have to be an artist, because everyone gets individual attention and is encouraged to try things out. […] By the end we had created a great artwork and had a big grin on our faces.”
