Team event in bad weather: a plan B that isn't one

There's a glass roof over the Botanikum in Munich. GKM celebrated their summer team event there, barefoot on the lawn, with action painting, graffiti, and abstract painting under the greenhouse roof. Five large department pieces came out of it, on top of the 50×70 individual canvases everyone took home. The day was beautiful. The format would have run exactly the same if it had rained, because the roof was already there.

That's the actual point of a team event in bad weather: not a backup plan you throw together once the forecast turns, but a format where rain never becomes a decision in the first place. Anyone planning a team event for HR or office management knows the problem: a date has been locked in for weeks, the venue is booked, and three days out comes the rain warning. What matters then is a mechanism that takes weather out of the equation, not a weather god who happens to cooperate.

Six mechanisms make sure a team event runs independent of weather with us.

Whether the group stands under open sky or a glass roof doesn't structurally change that effect; what matters is the shared task, not the weather above it.
