Action Painting in Kopenhagen

There is no teacher at a whiteboard here and no fixed sequence of steps. Your team in Copenhagen works the canvas with wax crayon, spray can and acrylic, with light guidance and zero dictation – whether that is an office tower at Kalvebod Brygge or a converted brewery hall in Carlsberg Byen.

No pressure, no performing

What action painting means with us

A blank canvas, spray cans and wax crayons are waiting. Our guide draws the outer frame, everything that lands on the canvas after that is your team's call.

That is exactly where action painting starts with us: guided enough that a picture comes out at the end instead of tipping into brown, and free enough that everyone does what they want. As a company event that means no run sheet to sign off before you book.

Anyone who has done a team event where everyone stands in a circle and plays guided games knows the feeling: grown adults treated like they are back in school. With us, that pressure falls away and the painting stays.

Copenhagen's office landscape spreads across several waterfront and redevelopment districts, from the office towers at Kalvebod Brygge to the newer business quarters in Ørestad and Nordhavn – which is why the format usually comes straight to your own building instead of an external hall. There is no paint-by-numbers here, no template, no fixed order, no „red first, blue after“. A guide keeps paint, surface and tool working together, the canvas itself stays entirely your call. From €79 per person, net, and cost per head drops as the group grows.

Three craft rules

The craft

Free does not mean random, paint still follows its own logic. Three simple rules keep what you make a picture instead of a brown puddle:

Wax does not take paint. Anyone who works with a wax crayon before the paint goes on keeps that area free. No matter how many layers come on top later, the spot stays clear. Patterns appear this way without anyone needing to be able to paint.

Spray paint cracks on fresh acrylic. If the acrylic layer underneath has not fully cured, spraying over it creates a craquelé effect: fine cracks that make the picture look years old. Anyone who has seen it once never paints without this trick again.

Paint dosing is the real craft. Too much paint at once runs together and turns dark green to brown: the moment a picture becomes a mess of colour. The guide steps in right before that happens, not after.

These three rules are why guided does not mean restricted with us. The guide takes care of the material, you take care of the decisions.

The steps behind an action painting team event in Kopenhagen

We don't talk much, we get to work early. We barely interfere with your pictures — the result should come from your hand, not ours.

A session runs two to three hours, and the order makes the difference: if everyone paints at once, the colours run into each other and turn brown. That is why your piece grows in layers, with short breaks in between. What that means for your group is laid out step by step below.

Zwei bis drei Stunden · Indoor und Outdoor
01The wall is settled first

No venue yet? We point you to a spot we have used before, though the booking itself stays with you, side programme and drinks included. Got your own room? We simply show up once the surface is ready.

02Protection and liability sit with us

Our crew covers every surface on site with protective sheeting before a drop of paint falls, and takes liability for it. Anything that risks staining stays covered. Clothes stay on, a poncho and gloves do the job.

03Wax does not take paint

The guide explains the material first: spray paint, wax crayon, acrylic, lacquer. Spray paint cracks on still-wet acrylic, creating a craquelé effect. That is why the piece ends up layer on layer.

04One guide per fifty heads

We break large groups into units of about fifty, each with its own guide. While one pair paints, the rest take on a short side task, and the guide calls the rotation.

05Layer by layer, with real drying time

Each layer has to set before the next colour lands, so groups take turns: paint, step back, wait, hand over. That pause is craft, not downtime.

06You decide beforehand how the group paints

One canvas each, or one shared piece the whole team builds together, layer on layer: that choice gets made at booking, not on the day.

07We clean up at the end, you take it home

We leave the surface exactly as we found it. Everything painted is yours from that second on, no shipping, no follow-up delivery, you carry it out the door that same day.

What group size changes

For groups smaller than nine or ten people we do not accept an enquiry, because the setup does not carry itself. Travel to Kopenhagen, materials and guidance are included, all prices are plus 19% VAT.

How you pay

There are two routes: book directly in the shop, or an invoice to your accounts department. In both cases payment falls due before the date, and that is the rule with us.

If something gets in the way

Up to 30 days before you cancel free of charge, after that the full sum falls due. If the weather turns in Kopenhagen, that only decides the format, graffiti on canvas or action painting in the greenhouse keeps running.

What is already included

Materials, guidance, set-up and take-down sit inside the price, along with travel to Kopenhagen. For a legal wall we might use we obtain the permit, at no extra charge.

What does a team event in Kopenhagen cost?

A team event in Kopenhagen starts at €79 per person net, and small groups sit at €129.

More people means a lower price per head, simple math. Getting to Copenhagen, building up and bringing the crew only happens once, whether twelve people pick up a spray can or two hundred do. A bigger group just splits the same fixed cost more ways. Your price covers travel, hauling every bit of material, all the paint itself, covers to protect the floor, and our people guiding on site. If we end up on a legal wall, we handle that permit ourselves at no extra cost. The one thing that stays on you is the venue, unless you already have one. Under nine or ten people we turn the enquiry down, the setup simply does not pay for itself below that. Every number here is net, add 19% VAT on top. Cancel free up to 30 days out, after that you owe the full amount. Send an enquiry and you will hear back with a real quote inside 24 hours.

Where can you hold a team event in Kopenhagen?

In Copenhagen we come to you, whether that is an office tower at Kalvebod Brygge, a converted brewery hall in Carlsberg Byen or a business site in Ørestad or Nordhavn – plus anywhere your team has rooms of its own.

Copenhagen's office clusters sit spread along the water and across the newer districts: Kalvebod Brygge with its office towers by the inner harbour, Ørestad as a modern office and development district, Nordhavn as a growing waterfront business quarter, plus the converted brewery halls of Carlsberg Byen for a more industrial, creative setting. We bring material, guides and setup to any of these locations. Got a space already picked out – a loft, courtyard, rooftop or an empty office floor? Mention it in your enquiry and we will check it works. Otherwise an empty office, a courtyard, or a rented venue does the job fine, as long as there is enough room, solid ground and a power outlet, we sort the permit ourselves, you just book and pay for the venue. Call it a company outing or a corporate event, makes no difference to how this works. Not sure your space is up to it? Send a photo with the enquiry and we will tell you before the day arrives, not on it.

What do you do in Kopenhagen in bad weather?

Rain never cancels a Copenhagen date. It only decides whether you end up at an outdoor wall or under a roof.

The covered route runs through a rented indoor space with room, a surface that holds and power – your own office floor, a hall or, as for the HANSAINVEST date, a photo studio such as the one in Ottensen. Indoors the forecast does not decide the date, because there is no forecast to check. The second route runs through the material: graffiti on a wall is always an outdoor format, while the same technique on canvas runs indoors as well as outdoors. Action painting works both ways in any case. In practice that means: tell us at the enquiry whether your date can move. If it cannot, we pick a format from the start that needs no forecast. If it can, we hold the outdoor option open and come back to you as soon as the forecast is reliable.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need any experience?
None needed. At the start, the guide walks through the three craft rules, then the group takes over. Most people who join us have never touched a brush before, and that is completely normal.
Do you need to change clothes?
No, gloves and a poncho are enough protection.
Does it work in bad weather?
Yes, acrylic works indoors as a rule. Oil paint and bigger action elements suit an outdoor setting better.
How long does a session take?
Two to three hours, fits easily into a seminar day without eating up the rest of the agenda.
Where does it take place?
On a surface that fits the date, at your site – whether an office tower at Kalvebod Brygge or a converted brewery hall in Carlsberg Byen – or a suitable rented event space in and around Copenhagen. We bring material, guides and setup. For legal walls we obtain the permit ourselves; a rented event space is booked by you.
Do you book the location for us?
No. We work in public places or on surfaces you provide yourselves; everything else around the location is booked by you. We help with the search and suggest places we have already worked at.
Are drinks included in the price?
No, drinks fall outside our scope, since we do not book the frame around the workshop. You organise catering yourselves.
Can you paint at our office?
Yes, as long as you provide the surface. We show up with protection and material, the room and its booking stay yours.
Who owns the pieces afterwards?
Yours, full stop. The pieces go home with you, we neither ship nor store them afterwards.
What if you need to cancel on short notice?
Cancellation is free up to 30 days before the date; after that we charge 100 %.
Does it work for Christmas parties or summer festivals?
Yes, these come up regularly for us (see references). Tell us the occasion and we will say honestly whether and how it fits.
