Comdeo painted a 3D mural with 10 participants at the Hall of Fame on Ratswegkreisel in Frankfurt-Ostend, a huge wall where spraying is legal. The mural was created entirely by the group's own hands.
The brief
A 3D effect on a graffiti wall can quickly look like the craft of one skilled person alone. For a team event, the whole group has to produce the result themselves instead, with their own hands rather than watching from the side.
How it went
Our team sums up the location like this: it all happened at the Hall of Fame on Ratswegkreisel in Frankfurt's Ostend district, a huge wall where you can legally paint. Individual pieces there sometimes reach up to 50 metres. With Comdeo, a 3D mural was painted "with block" technique, created entirely by the group themselves, not pre-drawn or pre-prepared.
The result
By the end, a 3D mural stood that the 10 participants had designed entirely themselves, on a wall made for exactly this kind of large-scale work and open in Frankfurt-Ostend to anyone who wants to spray there legally. A Google review from Andreas Scheifele calls the result "Kunst trifft Teamspirit" (original in German; translated: "Art meets team spirit"), confirming the impression on site.
A legal Hall of Fame like the one at Ratswegkreisel takes the permit question off your plate: the surface is cleared for graffiti, so there's nothing extra to arrange. A 3D effect "with block" technique also works with a small group of 10 people, as long as the technique is right and the surface fits the group size.

Frequently asked questions about this project
Is a graffiti team event at the Hall of Fame Ratswegkreisel even legal?
Yes, the Hall of Fame at Ratswegkreisel in Frankfurt-Ostend is a wall where spraying is explicitly permitted. Comdeo painted their own 3D mural there with 10 participants, using "with block" technique. You don't need to apply for a separate permit for this surface.
How do you create a 3D effect on a graffiti wall?
With "block" technique: colour fields are placed so they read as spatial rather than flat. With Comdeo, this produced a complete 3D mural that the group designed themselves. The technique needs no prior experience, just instructions that show the steps in the right order.
