In December 2024, Personio brought six teams to the wall at Bahnwärter Thiel in Munich. Each team brainstormed its own word and put it up themselves, with around 60 participants on site.
The brief
With 60 participants, often only half the group ends up actually painting while the rest watch. A single shared motif barely spreads sensibly across a group this size, and a workshop with just one goal for everyone quickly creates downtime. The solution: split the group instead of holding it together: six teams with six of their own tasks.
How it went
Each of the six teams first brainstormed its own word, then put the idea on the wall themselves. Our team sums it up: six different teams with six different words, self-brainstormed and self-executed. At Bahnwärter Thiel there was enough wall space for all six groups to work at the same time.
The result
By the end, six finished words stood side by side, each carrying the handwriting of the team that came up with it. Anyone who executes their own word can't talk their way out of it afterwards. All six results can be viewed together on the same wall, and no word stands alone.
Past a certain group size, splitting pays off over holding together: smaller tasks with their own result involve more people than one big project. The words themselves didn't come from us. They came from each team's own brainstorm.

Frequently asked questions about this project
How does a graffiti workshop run when several teams execute their own words?
Each team first brainstorms its own word, then puts it on the wall themselves, independently of the other groups. At Personio, six teams ran in parallel this way, each with its own word on the same wall at Bahnwärter Thiel. That's how six independent results came together in December 2024, instead of one single shared motif.
Where do the words that end up on the wall come from?
The words don't come from us. They come from each team's own brainstorm. At Personio, each of the six groups developed its word themselves before putting it on the wall. By the end, six independent words stood side by side, with no predefined motifs.
